Pure Rosemary Essential Oil
Sharp, green and herbaceous, rosemary is the most recognisable herb oil we stock, and the one people most often mix into a scalp or hair oil. It's steam distilled from the leaves and comes in a 30 ml bottle, our largest single-oil size. Also good in a morning diffuser or a post-workout massage blend. External use only; dilute before applying to skin.

Product Information
About Pure Rosemary Essential Oil
Rosemary oil smells almost exactly like the herb: sharp, green and camphor-like, with a woody edge underneath. It's bracing rather than relaxing, which is why people tend to run it in the morning or in a study rather than at bedtime.
It's steam distilled from the leaves of Rosmarinus officinalis, now formally reclassified as Salvia rosmarinus. Both names appear on supplier documents and refer to the same plant.
This one comes in 30 ml rather than the 10 ml we use for most oils. Rosemary gets used in larger quantities than a floral or a citrus, particularly by people mixing their own hair and scalp oils, so the bigger bottle saves reordering.
Benefits & Uses
The benefits of rosemary essential oil are endless, from basic skin care to hair care. This pure rosemary essential oil has come to the forefront of appreciation due to its tendency to help hair grow fast; it is taken as one of the best rosemary oils for hair growth in Australia. In addition, it is known that rosemary aromatherapy oil improves memory, concentration, and clarity of mind. Rosemary oil for hair Australia will help nourish your hair using a natural approach by strengthening your hair and thickening it.
How To Use Pure Rosemary Essential Oil
- Scalp and hair oil: 6 to 12 drops per 30 ml of jojoba, castor or coconut oil, which is a 1 to 2% dilution. Massage it in, leave it 20 to 30 minutes, then shampoo out. Twice a week is plenty.
- Shampoo or conditioner: 2 to 3 drops in a palmful as you wash. Simple, and it rinses straight off.
- Diffuser: 4 to 5 drops per 100 ml of water. The scent is sharp and clean, which suits a kitchen, study or home office.
- Massage blend: 6 to 12 drops per 30 ml of carrier oil. It pairs well with peppermint or eucalyptus after exercise.
- Steam bowl: 1 to 2 drops in a bowl of hot, not boiling, water. Keep your eyes closed and your face at a comfortable distance.
- Blending: rosemary works with peppermint, eucalyptus, lemon, lavender, cedarwood and lemongrass.

- For external use only. Do not swallow.
- Never apply it neat. Dilute to 1 to 2% for the body and scalp, which is 6 to 12 drops per 30 ml of carrier oil.
- Patch test first. Apply a little of the diluted oil to your inner forearm and check it after 24 hours.

- Avoid it if you're pregnant or breastfeeding unless your healthcare professional has said it's fine.
- If you have epilepsy, high blood pressure or any other medical condition, speak to your doctor before using rosemary oil.
- Don't use it on children under 6, and check with a doctor or pharmacist for older children.
- Keep it away from the eyes and broken skin. If oil gets in an eye, wipe it with a carrier oil or full-cream milk rather than water, then seek medical advice.
- Ask your vet before diffusing around pets, and leave them a way out of the room.
- Store tightly capped somewhere cool and dark, out of reach of children.

Frequently Asked Question
Does rosemary essential oil promote hair growth?
Rosemary essential oil is one of the most talked-about natural oils for supporting hair growth in Australia, particularly following widespread interest on social media. It is commonly mixed with a carrier oil and massaged into the scalp to stimulate blood circulation. While results vary, many users incorporate it into their regular hair care routine as a natural complement to healthy hair habits.
How do you use rosemary oil for hair growth in Australia?
Mix 3–5 drops of rosemary essential oil with a tablespoon of carrier oil such as castor or jojoba oil. Massage the blend into the scalp for 5–10 minutes, leave for at least 30 minutes or overnight, then wash out thoroughly with shampoo. For best results, use consistently two to three times per week as part of your hair care routine.
Can rosemary essential oil help with focus and concentration?
Many people use rosemary essential oil in a diffuser to support mental clarity and concentration during study or work. Its fresh, herbaceous aroma is associated with cognitive alertness and focus. Simply add 4–5 drops to your diffuser and enjoy the invigorating scent while working or studying.
What carrier oil should I mix rosemary oil with for my scalp?
Castor oil and jojoba oil are two of the most popular carrier oils to blend with rosemary essential oil for scalp and hair care. Castor oil adds thickness and is believed to nourish hair follicles, while jojoba closely mimics the scalp's natural oils and absorbs easily without greasiness. Mix 3–5 drops of rosemary essential oil per tablespoon of your chosen carrier oil.
Can I leave rosemary oil in my hair overnight?
Yes - an overnight scalp treatment with diluted rosemary oil is a popular practice. Mix 3–5 drops of Pure Rosemary Essential Oil into 1–2 tablespoons of Pure Jojoba Oil or Pure Castor Oil, massage into the scalp, cover with a shower cap, and wash out the following morning with your regular shampoo.
Always ensure the oil is well diluted in a carrier oil before overnight use. Perform a patch test first. For external use only.
